Corona what? Thoughts on things

slowing down
can be scary
I know
we’re used to
the fast lane
but maybe
this is all
a blessing

slowing down
isn’t so bad
take a deep breath
enjoy your family
organize your home
get some of those
side projects done
step outside
get some fresh air
get still
meditate
drink water
take this opportunity
to go inward
and work
on what
you are really feeling
inside
tend to your inner garden
spring is coming
plant seeds
to raise your vibration
now is the time

and remember
fear is a great teacher
when witnessed
and observed
compassionately

notice
where are you feeling it
in your body?
send some breath there
do not let it consume you
for it is just trying
to protect you
instead
stay present
help
whoever you can
any way you can
small things
make big impacts
in times
like these

this slow down
it’s not so bad
enjoy it
do your part
look for ways to find
lightness
within the weight of it
take care of yourself
create a new routine
and relax
into the shift

I’ve had restless sleep the past few nights because my son’s been sick, and yes, of course I’m all worried about it potentially being the coronavirus, like everyone else who’s sick right now.

It’s scary, I know. I took him to see his pediatrician yesterday though, and turns out it’s just a cold and ear infection. Got antibiotics and a steroid (thank you western medicine), made it back home, whew. Okay. That’s handled.

But I still woke up at 1am this morning, laid in bed for a while scrolling and liking, and eventually started craving coffee. So I got up at 2:30am to meditate, write and get some alone time in. And make the coffee, of course.

I’ve been feeling a lot about the current state of things, and wanted to share and empower you with a few ideas moving forward as we tread these uncharted waters together.

If uncertainty is unacceptable to you, it turns into fear. If it is perfectly acceptable, it turns into increased aliveness, alertness, and creativity.

Don’t let the fear consume you. You’re better than that. Instead, find new ways to be productive at home. What projects need to get done? What can you get excited about around the house? School is cancelled. Dang, you get to spend more time with your kids. Life sucks.

Spring is coming. Grab some garbage bags, pack them full of shit you’re not using or wearing, and adios those motherfuckers. Make space for new energy. Make your home a place you love to be. I cannot stress how important this is for your wellbeing, friends. Your home is an extension of you. Now is the time to get rid of things (and people) that are making it not a fun place to be. Ok, now that your place is sparkling clean (and stocked with enough toilet paper to last a year), let’s talk about your business.

What work can you do from home? Work on your website or brand? Create some new content or marketing materials? Craft a beautiful email to send your clients? Content batch for social media posts? Lastly, movement and meditation. While you’re doing your spring house cleaning, make a sacred space in your home. A place that’s inviting, a place you want to go where you can connect with yourself. No excuses. My apartment is tiny and I have a space for this. You don’t have space, you make space. There are tons of free videos online you can stream from your living room. My fave channels are this one for workouts and this one for yoga. Also this podcast for streaming full yoga practices. I’ve recorded various guided meditations for you here, and they’re all under ten minutes.

Make time to reconnect with that part of yourself that knows everything is going to be okay. Movement and meditation are non-negotiables for me. Now, more than ever, it is crucial that we tune into our inner landscape and drop into that space of peace, calm, and clarity that is always within us.

I promise you that you can always trust the wisdom of your own body. You just have to make space to listen. Do your part to heal the world by healing yourself.
